558 Unit Free from Corruption Born at the End of the Year

JAKARTA – At the end of 2021, 558 work units of agents for pioneering bureaucratic changes were born with the predicate of Corruption Free Areas (WBK) and Clean Serving Bureaucratic Regions (WBBM). 486 work units were designated as WBK, and 72 work units received the WBBM predicate.

This predicate is given to strategic service work units whose leaders and staff are strongly committed to creating an anti-corruption bureaucratic work culture that serves the public with excellence. "This predicate is not only a form of appreciation but also symbolizes the commitment of your work unit always to be an icon of the bureaucracy that serves as well as clean and free from corruption," said Vice President K.H. Ma'ruf Amin while giving directions at the Online Appreciation and Awarding Integrity Zone Towards a corruption-free Area (WBK)/Clean and Serving Bureaucratic Region (WBBM), Monday (20/12).

He explained that the massive construction of the integrity zone is a fundamental step to a comprehensive improvement in public services. In the end, the construction of an integrity zone can positively impact economic growth and increase national competitiveness.

"All real efforts must continue to be carried out by work units under ministries, institutions, and local governments so that people can enjoy a variety of public services that are faster, easier, cheaper, and inclusive," said the Vice President.

On that occasion, the Minister for Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Tjahjo Kumolo stated that bureaucratic reform was a catalyst in realizing excellent and clean governance to support, national development. This is also done to realize the President's expectations about bureaucratic reform, namely a competitive bureaucracy, a bureaucracy that creates results, .agile, and a bureaucracy that makes delivered..

Minister Tjahjo reiterated the President's directive not to commit corruption. "Don't be corrupt; create a system to close the gap for corruption!" he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Bureaucratic Reform, Apparatus Accountability, and Supervision of the PANRB Ministry, Erwan Agus Purwanto explained that the construction of the Integrity Zone towards WBK and WBBM is one of the President's and Vice President's directives regarding the importance of creating a clean, effective, corruption-free, reliable, and trustworthy government. And with integrity in facing the challenges of industry 4.0.

"Development of the Integrity Zone is a necessity that must be implemented immediately in the process of increasing the acceleration of bureaucratic reform," explained Erwan.

Based on the data presented, in 2021, 259 government agencies consisting of 72 ministries/agencies, 20 provincial governments, and 167 district/city governments have proposed their service work units to be evaluated by the National Assessment Team (TPN). This number has increased by 188% compared to 2019.

The number of work units proposed in 2021 also increased by 19 percent compared to 2020. A total of 2,239 work units were submitted in 2019, then increased to 3,691 work units in 2020 and 4,402 work units in 2021.

In the appreciation and award event, the Ministry of PANRB also appointed ten leaders of change. Leaders of change are leaders of government agencies, ministers, heads of institutions, governors, regents/mayors who have succeeded in encouraging and sparking the spirit of Integrity Zone development within their agencies.

Appreciation and awards for work units that have succeeded in obtaining the WBK/WBBM predicate are held every year as a series of commemorations of World Anti-Corruption Day. This is intended so that the momentum of Anti-Corruption Day can be a trigger for all Government Agencies to take action to prevent and eradicate corruption in a concrete, systematic, and sustainable manner, through the implementation of the bureaucratic reform program that has been set out in the Grand Design and Road Map of National Bureaucratic Reform, National Strategy. Prevention of Corruption (STRANAS-PK), the Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN), and the Nawacita Program.
