The Footwear Industry is a labor-intensive industrial sector that contributes to the national economy. Based on data from the Pusdatin of the Ministry of Industry, the footwear industry's export performance throughout 2020 was US$ 4.8 billion, an increase of 9% compared to export performance in 2019, which only reached US$ 4.41 billion. Meanwhile, in January 2021, temporary data on the export performance of the national footwear industry was US$ 0.49 billion, an increase of 15.54% compared to the same period in the previous year which only reached US$ 0.42 billion. This positive performance in 2020 and 2021 can still be realized because the domestic investment climate can be appropriately maintained during the pandemic. This includes maintaining export performance in 2020, a joint commitment by the government and industry players to maintain a climate for industrial growth so that Indonesia remains the main base for the global footwear value chain. This is indicated by the investment performance in the Footwear Industry sector, which is part of KBLI 15 Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Industry where based on BKPM data, the investment performance of Domestic Investment (PMDN) in the KBLI 15 Industrial Sector at the end of 2020 reached Rp. 393.68 billion, a significant increase compared to 2019 which was only worth Rp. 77.36 billion. Meanwhile, at the end of 2020, the investment performance of Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) also showed good performance, with a total project value of US$ 214 million, an increase compared to 2019 with a total investment value of US$ 188.34 million.
